Fresher’s Week 2016

For anyone interested in trying out rowing or becoming a part of the club there’s lots to get involved with in Fresher’s Week. We look forward to meeting you!

Sports Fayre – Tuesday 13th and Wednesday 14th September

Come past and see us for a chat and to sign up for our mailing list and Facebook pages. There will be plenty of members about to tell you about their experience rowing at Glasgow as well as a 100m rowing challenge for the competetive!

Indoor Rowing Taster Session – Thursday 15th September

Run by our novice coach, Matthew Mole, this is a great opportunity to learn the right technique to use on the indoor rowing machine and to get a taste of training with GUBC. All you will need is a pair of shorts or leggings, a pair of trainers, and a water bottle.

There will be 3 x 45 minute sessions starting at 1200, 1300 and 1400 and the session will be run in Studio 1 in the gym (directions here). There are limited places so join our Novice Men‘s and Women‘s Facebook pages to sign up!

Taster Session & BBQ – Saturday 17th September – 1000 – 1700 drop-in

Based at out boathouse on Glasgow Green, mini-buses will be running every half an hour from the Main Gate and Murano Street Student Village. Alternatively directions can be found here. Anyone is welcome to turn up at any time between 1000 and 1700.

Our experienced rowers and coaches will teach you the basics of the rowing stroke before giving you the opportunity to get out on the water in a rowing boat. All you need is basic sports kit – we have changing facilities at the boathouse if you need. Bring your flatmates and have a go – there will be a free barbecue and drinks too!
