150th Anniversary Celebration
18th November 2017, Glasgow
We’re seeking any and all members from our rich 150 year history to attend to help us celebrate this historic anniversary. A program of entertainment will be put in place for the day, involving a ‘nostalgia trip’ to the boathouse complete with a prosecco/beer tent and perhaps even a scratch regatta if there’s the appetite. This will then be followed by a dinner at the Trades Hall featuring guest speakers and post-dinner entertainment. Tickets are priced at £70, which includes the day-time activities, drinks reception, 3 course meal, ceilidh and after-venue.

Alongside the 150th Celebration we are running a fundraising campaign for a Coxed Four, with our target being £20,000. A new “Alumni Fund” has been set-up to allow Alumni to donate to the club, through the University of Glasgow, in support of this target. All donations between now and the 150th Celebration will be put towards the Coxed Four. Past this event, the vision is that we can attract a pool of regular donors to help create a consistent income stream for the club to tap into when required. This vision is in it’s infancy, at current we have a group of donors who donate anywhere from £5 to £50 a month, but with your support we hope this group will grow and allow rowing at Glasgow to flourish.
The link to donate can be found here. Please select “Rowing Club”, you may also add Gift Aid (25%). Our current totaliser is below,
Just over a quarter of the way there, we’re very pleased! Thanks to those of you who have already signed up. Each and every donation, no matter how small or large, is a step towards our goal, so we thank you for these. For regular updated on the progress of the Fund, please join our mailing list.
We have set up a small sub-committee comprising of Peter Russell (Club President), Charles Westwood (Vice President), Iain Giffin (Vice President), Ann Gibson (Alumni), Laura Rankin (Alumni) and Stuart Mitchell (Club Captain 2016/17) take this event forward.
